I do so love Mr. B. Live he really is something else – a real-time, one man replication of the rich sonic tapestries of his studio recordings. He’ll whistle a tune for a full thirty seconds, then loop it, then another, then lay down the skeleton of a violin line and loop that, followed by the looping of a simple vocal melody, building and building until it suddenly hits you: he’s assembling one of your favourite songs.
I’ve had a few of his albums for ages, but only gave them a proper listen recently. I’m glad I did! I’d love to see him live — the layering you describe sounds wonderful.
